During 2019 Tracsis collected data from 29,000,000 number plates.

Our latest numbers are showing that investment in technology and the expertise of our survey teams is paying off for our customers and all of us who use the transport networks in the future.

During 2019 we captured ANPR data for 24 million plates with an average capture rate of 92.5%.

Accurate data is important in our industry. Our traffic survey reports and the insights they provide for transport planners directly effect how we will all move about our road networks in the future. As city planning changes to encourage environmental forms of moving around such as walking and cycling, we have to redesign to make that easier and safer. If we are going to have better transport it will only happen if we understand what needs to change.

Accuracy is a much over used word in traffic surveys and some would argue that it’s consistency of measurements that is important. At Tracsis we have years of experience that has shown that you need to define what accurate means. It’s the combination of two factors that make our data accurate:

Trueness – is the closeness of a measurement to that quantity’s true value. In other words, it is the extent to which the measurement is error free.

Precision –  is the degree to which repeated measurements show the same results each time. Sometimes precision is referred to as the reliability or consistency of the measurement.

These two elements are what we focus on and our latest analysis of our own performance during 2019 shows we are getting close to our goals for error free, consistent ANPR survey results.

Digital ANPR cameras.

Our unique combination of camera and IR technology allows us to deliver reliable ANPR readings regardless of speed, weather, reflectivity of number plate and glare from headlights. Our portable ANPR cameras operate on a stand-alone basis and can be deployed at the roadside for temporary or long-term data capture.

Coupled with multi-sourced databases of vehicle details and our industry-leading data cleaning, analysis and reporting suite, we provide a unique end-to-end service to derive the information needed to inform transport planning, parking, compliance investigation and air quality study projects.

Our cameras have individual processing and 3G connectivity allowing remote monitoring, reducing the need for technicians to visit site during surveys.

If you need live information…

Tracsis Live Technology (TLT) is our intelligent portal that transforms detailed data being captured by the ANPR cameras into useful trend information displayed in a user friendly interactive dashboard. This allows you to have live insights into complex traffic situations but in graphic form that allows instant decision making.

This new technology allows transport planners to manage ongoing live situations such as event traffic, road works or emergency situations.

You can Capture critical flow and origin destination data important for benchmarking and monitoring Traffic Management Plans.TLT on a macbook.

Tracsis Data Security

Images collected by these cameras (such as the one adjacent) and extracted data are transmitted via a 3G router to a secure database. The router is password protected and all processing of ANPR data is undertaken within a GDPR compliant framework. Particular attention is paid to preventing data aggregation of this personal data with plate data being referenced against the DVLA anonymised data set to generate vehicle classification data.

To meet GDPR requirements, unique registrations are pseudonymised[1] through the above process. Reports for ANPR are thus exchanged with non-identifying information, and additional information is needed to recreate the original information.

Notes:

[1] Pseudonymization is a data management and de-identification procedure by which personally identifiable information fields within a data record are replaced by one or more artificial identifiers, or pseudonyms. A single pseudonym for each replaced field or collection of replaced fields makes the data record less identifiable while remaining suitable for data analysis and data processing.

Approval for work over live carriageways:

Tracsis have approval from Highways England for the installation methods of our survey camaras and other technologies over live carriageways. This covers the way we install fixings and snatch cables to stop equipment being pulled down or falling into areas where they would become a hazard.
