Description:
Vehicular traffic and people movement data are essential inputs to any traffic and transportation project ranging from highways infrastructure, public transport links and hubs, large events and venues, freight traffic, private cars, cyclists and pedestrians. This course provides an introduction to the techniques (both quantitative and qualitative) available as well as looking at emerging innovative methods of data collection. The costs, advantages, disadvantages and limitations of the various survey techniques available to the practitioner are explored. These techniques are illustrated throughout by case studies and group work.
